Precision Experimental Tables

TSW specialises in the design, manufacture and supply of motorized experimental tables with several degrees of freedom that are stable and combine accuracy with high load capability.

Utilising ball screw jacks with backlash elimination arranged in pairs and each pair powered by a single stepper motor offering via cross slides X,Y,Z axis translation and pitch/yaw. The mounting platform is essentially either a precision ground steel plate or a breadboard that provides a matrix of holes on a grid pattern which is a hollow honeycombed structure providing a combination of high rigidity, low weight and excellent damping properties.  Precision is controlled via the stepper motor gearing translators/controllers and encoders with limits set by high precision micro-switches.

TSW Engineers Ltd manufactures a varied range of support structures and associated experimental equipment for use at Nuclear Physics Research Laboratories. We are a running Contractor to the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC) supplying equipment for Daresbury and Rutherford Appleton Laboratories in the UK. We have also supplied equipment to Laboratories around the world including the European Synchrotron Research facility at Grenoble in France and the HP CAT facility at Argonne, Illinois, USA.
